Red Thread Stories

My husband, Corin and I adopted our baby girl from China in January 2004. When I got around to looking at our video from the trip, I realized it wasn't something I would particularly want to see over and over, much less share with anyone else.

Why did I shoot all 20 minutes of that bus ride? Who wants to see all that? I wouldn't! And I doubted my daughter would find it interesting. And thus, the idea of Red Thread Stories was born.

For the previous 5 years, I had worked as an in-house video editor for a local production company. In June of 2004, I took the leap and struck out on my own as a freelancer. Working at home has been very rewarding and enjoyable.

The first Red Thread story

As an experienced editor, I decided to make a “mini-movie” of our China trip, complete with titles, still photos and music. It was to be a Christmas gift to my husband. It was a hit, not only with him but with our daughter. For the first week, my daughter would sit in his lap everyday and they would watch the movie together. Even now they continue to watch the movie together every few weeks.

The movie has been wonderful to share with the whole family. The DVD is a great facilitator in sharing my daughter’s story with family and also with her.

Goal

I created Red Thread Stories as my way to help others share their own family journeys. It's my goal to create a wonderful tale of your adventure for you to share with others and most importantly to share with your child in the years to come.
