What To Shoot

Shooting subject matter is always a bit...subjective. What's important to one person may not be important to another.

Here are recommended shots for adoption videos that will help in creating a good movie.

Shots for your Chinese Adoption Video

  1. Baby’s nursery. Pan the room as a whole, then get close ups on various objects in the room.
  2. Referral Day. Try to get "The Phonecall" on tape!
  3. Seeing baby’s picture for the first time.
  4. Interviews. Record on tape how you are feeling before and after referral and before you travel.
  5. Scenic shots of your location. Hotel, the town, the people, etc.
  6. Gotcha moment. Show the baby coming into the room if possible. Try to get close ups of mom, dad and baby, but also group shots of all three.
  7. More interviews. Talk about how you are feeling before/after gotcha day. How was the baby’s first night? How was the baby’s first meal?
  8. Record the different experiences with your baby. Bath, eating, sleeping, playing, crying, laughing.
